About Us

Renaissance Horizon

Founded by A. Keith Christie and Christine Brown (pictured) in January 2015, Renaissance Horizon is a registered Community Interest Company (CIC:09772390).

The company has an affiliation with LC&CTA, a Counsellor, Counselling and Personal Development Training Organisation also co-founded by Chris Brown in 2007.

Originally created to support anyone in recovery from drug or substance abuse and/or addiction, Renaissance Horizon now works with clients requiring support with a broad range of issues.


Christine Brown

Co-Founder and Person-Centred Psychotherapist/Counsellor

Chris is a Person-Centred trained, BACP Accredited & UKRC Registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist who also works in Private Practice. As well as her Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling, She holds an MA in Counselling & Psychotherapy, a Certificate in Education, and an AEB Certificate in Counselling Supervision. Chris is also a published researcher and author.

Since 1995 Chris has gained broad experience as a Counselling Trainer in FE & AE Institutions London wide and in her Private Practice Chris also offers Supervision to other Counsellors.

Chris comes from a Working Class background and Italian immigrant heritage. She is dedicated to offering appropriate and effective support and recovery services to those healing from addiction.

Keith Christie

Co-Founder/ Group Facilitator/ Substance Misuse Recovery and 12 Step Advisor/Counsellor

Keith’s area of expertise lies in Substance Misuse and has twenty years’ experience working with people in recovery from drug addiction. He has travelled London wide in both his voluntary and professional capacities and is dedicated to his helping roles; that have included volunteering as a Prison Visitor and working 1 to 1 with offenders incarcerated for drug related crime.

Keith holds various CPD Qualifications that cover working with Self-Harmers and Suicide Prevention and a Level 4 Qualification in Working with Substance-Misusers. 

Keith is an avid lover of Jazz but is a collector of all music genres. He plays the Sax, Guitar and Trumpet for the sheer passion and joy of it. Keith is also a Dramatist who co-created and appeared in a number of productions held in Brixton and at The Young Vic. Keith is of Jamaican heritage and a Rasta man with deep spiritual beliefs that he lives his life by. He had significant input into the creation of LC&CTA’s Substance Misuse Courses and Workshops.


OUR SENIOR PRACTITIONERS

Chloe-Jade Velinor

Chloe is person centred counsellor who is BACP Registered.

She holds a Higher Professional Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Master’s Degree in Understanding Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse. She also holds further CPD qualifications in Safeguarding and Working with Substance Misusers.

Additionally, to working in RH UK CiC as a valued practitioner, Chole works in Private Practice and in a Sexual Assault Referral Centre supporting victims through their trauma. She has a strong passion for valuing diversity and equality and has facilitated group work this topic. Chole is Black British, hailing from a Jamaican heritage.


Mark Wood

Mark is a Person-Centred Counsellor and an is valued member of our team.

He is deeply interested in assisting people in understanding themselves and finding self-directed strategies for accepting their emotional and psychological challenges. He acknowledges life can feel overwhelming, at times even insurmountable, but has first-hand experience, from both sides of the client /counsellor alliance, of the benefits counselling can bring.

Additionally, Mark has decades of experience in the music industry where hot creative talent can cause emotions to run both deep and high - his intrinsically strong but gentile nature organically 'pours empathic calm and reason on troubled waters'.

Mark hails from South London and identifies as white British.


Rachel Young

Rachel a valued and qualified Counsellor, holding a L5 Higher Professional Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Alongside her work with us she is employed in childcare and has extensive experience mentoring young people and supporting the community as a youth worker in Brixton, London. 

With a background in the creative arts, having originally trained as a dancer, Rachel brings creativity and expression into her work with both our clients and in her youth work; encouraging people to explore different ways of connecting and developing.

Of mixed-race, heritage, Guyanese and British, Rachel grew up in Southeast London and brings warmth, understanding and a deep commitment to supporting others in her professional work.


OUR VOLUNTEER COUNSELLORS

Our Volunteer Counsellors come from a wide range of cultures, racial heritages, sexual-orientations, personally defined genders/non-gender defined, and life experiences. 

Having been in training for a minimum of two years, many are individual members of the BACP and/or work to the BACP Ethical Framework, which governs all our work at RH UK CiC.
